At least nine people are feared dead with scores injured after a head-on collision on Friday, 22 March 2019 between a Metro Mass Transit bus with registration number AS 2951 – 10, travelling from Accra to Diaso, and a Yutong bus with registration number GN 4368 – 14, travelling in the opposite direction.


The accident occurred at Ekumfi Dunkwa on the Mankessim-Winneba road.

The bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the Saltpond Municipal Government Hospital morgue while the inured and those in critical condition receive emergency medical treatment.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service were deployed to the scene to control the situation.

The Ekumfi Dunkwa accident happened several hours after another fatal crash occurred in the Bono East Region between a VVIP bus and another bus which resulted in deaths of at least 57 people.
