The Criminal Court 5 Division of the Accra High Court presided over by Justice George Boadi has adjourned the hearing of the J.B. Danquah-Adu murder case to 15 April 2019 to allow the state to look for a lawyer to represent the first accused person, Daniel Asiedu, also known as ‘Sexy Don Don’.

The suspect, who, for some time now, has been insisting on the services of an ICC lawyer, has now backed down on that request following a series of explanations by the court.

However, the second accused person, Vincent Borsu, has agreed that Mr Muniru Kassim, a private legal practitioner who held the brief for a fellow lawyer, Mr Obour at the committal stage, should remain his lawyer.

The court has also ordered the Registrar of the court to earnestly write to the legal aid scheme to make a lawyer available to represent the first accused person so the trial could be expedited.

According to the court, the order has become necessary due to the nature and gravity of the punishment the accused persons may be handed should they be convicted of the crime, hence the need for a lawyer.
