The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with the attack on a final-year student of the University of Ghana, Legon.

The level 400 Psychology student, Daniel Osei, was attacked by armed men along the road leading to Evandy hostel from Pentagon on the school’s campus over the weekend.

The Operations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Chief Superintendent Kwasi Ofori, confirmed the arrest on Monday, 6 May 2019 as he revealed that a full investigation has been launched into the matter to determine if other suspects can be arrested.

He said the police are determined “to get the attackers” and bring them to justice.

Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori emphasised the need for the police to partner the internal security of the university to ensure safety, adding that the police teams and assault motorbikes will be deployed to the campus to patrol the university.

The victim is receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
