The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr David Asante-Apeatu has opened an ultra-modern police station built and financed by the Tema Community 25 Residents Association.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the IGP commended the association for its benevolent support to state institutions such as the police.

Mr Asante-Apeatu further entreated the residents not to rest on their oars but volunteer timely information to the police, particularly when the country is faced with kidnappings and other terrorist threats.

The IGP further donated a saloon car to the newly-built police station to enhance patrol activities.

The construction of the police station, according to the residents, is to enable the police give them maximum security and protection against criminals.

The Chairman of the Residents Association, Mr Bagnaba Van-Gogh, said the association considers security as a topmost priority for the residents and their properties in the area.

He added that the initiative will help industries grow in the area as a result of the security which will be brought there.

The Tema Regional Police Command, DCOP Edward Johnson Akrofi-Oyirifi, commended the Tema Development Company for the parcel of land it offered for the construction of the facility. He stated that the command has increased its patrols to ensure a reduction in crime in the region.
