A 32-year-old seamstress, Humu Iddrisu, has been arrested by the police in Osenase, a community near Akwatia, Eastern Region, for attempting to kill a 31-year-old woman named Esther Dzakah.

Humu, allegedly conspired with a pastor, now on the run, to kill Esther for alleged ritual purposes.

The victim suffered deep gushes on her face and had her right forefinger completely cut off in the attempted murder.

She is currently receiving treatment at St. Dominic’s Hospital, Akwatia.

Humu, who is friends with the victim, had offered to help Esther spiritually, with the assistance of the fugitive pastor, so, that her irresponsible husband would change his ways.

After convincing the victim to steal her husband’s GHS13,000 to be paid to the pastor for the spiritual help, Humu and her accomplice, together with Esther, lodged at Seth Mensah Guest House around 3 p.m.

Around 7 p.m., they went to an uncompleted building where the pastor force-fed the victim a concoction that weakened her.

The two suspects then smashed the victim’s head with a cement block, instantly knocking her unconscious and left the scene after suspecting she had died.

The victim later gained consciousness and recounted hearing the pastor telling his accomplice that he was fetching something from the shrubs nearby.

She told the police, after her rescue, that she summoned all the strength she could muster at the time and bit Humu on the cheeks and managed to flee back to the guest house amidst screams for help.

The guest house called the police around 10:45 p.m. and a patrol team at Awaham Junction responded swiftly and ferried the victim to the hospital.

Humu has been arrested by the police.

Also, the GHS13,000, which was still in the possession of the victim, was salvage at the scene by the police.

Humu is expected to be arraigned on Monday, 27 May 2019. The police are still on the heels of the fugitive pastor.
