Acting MD of ICOUR sets 3Rs strategies to transform “tarnished” company image, boost food security
The Acting Managing Director(MD) of the Irrigation Company of Upper Region (ICOUR) Limited, Mr. Dominic Atogumsekiya Anarigide, has outlined his strategic vision to make the company a modern, reliable, and sustainable irrigation enterprise that empowers farmers, supports local economies, and contributes meaningfully to national food security.
Speaking at the 62nd Consultative Committee Meeting held on November 13, 2025, at the Navrongo Health Research Centre Conference Hall, Mr. Anarigide emphasised that the new direction of ICOUR would be driven by “rebranding, reuniting, and rebuilding” the company’s structures to restore its past glory.
“In order to advance this vision, we must strengthen our partnership with you — our stakeholders.
We must also continue to uphold discipline, accountability, and a shared sense of responsibility for the success of the schemes,” he stated.
Mr. Anarigide assured stakeholders that his administration would operate an open-door policy, welcoming contributions, expertise, and concerns from all quarters in shaping critical company decisions.
This, he noted, is crucial for achieving lasting impact and efficiency in ICOUR’s irrigation schemes.
As part of efforts to motivate farmers and increase productivity, he announced plans to reintroduce the Best Farmer Awards under ICOUR’s schemes.
“Starting from this year, we shall award the best irrigation farmer during the Farmers Day Celebration,” he revealed.
The Acting MD further disclosed plans to launch an annual event dubbed ‘ICOUR Agric Fest’ to celebrate the achievements and resilience of irrigation farmers across the region.
He concluded by calling for collective support from stakeholders, stressing that with unity and dedication, ICOUR will not only reclaim its pride in the Upper East Region but also make a significant contribution toward achieving the government’s Feed Ghana Agenda.
