Cocobod inaugurates committees

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has inaugurated new management committees for four of its major divisions and subsidiaries — the Seed Production Division (SPD), Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED), Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), and the Cocoa Clinic — as part of efforts to enhance governance, improve operational efficiency, and ensure greater accountability across the organization.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, COCOBOD Chief Executive, Dr. Ransford Abbey, highlighted the critical roles these committees will play in advancing the Board’s mandate and supporting the government’s broader economic reset agenda.

Dr. Abbey charged committee members to bring innovation and dedication to their work, emphasising the need to “harness internal resources and creativity” in tackling emerging challenges within Ghana’s cocoa sector.

He noted that the committees’ establishment marks a renewed push toward institutional reform and performance optimisation within COCOBOD, particularly in areas of research, extension services, health, and seed production — all vital to sustaining the growth and competitiveness of the cocoa industry.

The new committees are expected to provide strategic direction, improve coordination, and ensure that the Board’s divisions align with national priorities aimed at restoring Ghana’s position as a global leader in sustainable cocoa production.
