COCOBOD settles ¢16m outstanding debt to non-DDEP Cocoa Bill holders
The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has fully settled its outstanding financial obligations to individual Cocoa Bill holders who did not participate in the Government’s Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).
In a press release issued on Wednesday, 15th July 2026, COCOBOD confirmed it has paid GH¢162 million to the affected investors.
The outstanding payments occurred following the implementation of the DDEP in 2023, during which payments to some non-participating Cocoa Bill holders were delayed due to financial constraints faced by COCOBOD.
According to the statement, the Board has now cleared these debts in line with its commitment to honouring legitimate financial obligations. Affected beneficiaries are advised by the board to contact their respective fund managers to access their payments.
COCOBOD expressed appreciation to the investors for their patience and understanding.
The organisation added that it remains committed to restoring confidence, strengthening its financial position, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the cocoa industry in Ghana.
