CRM: NPA boss seeks Ya Na’s blessing
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr Hassan Tampuli, on Monday, 9 December 2019, called on the overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Abukari Mahama II, at the Gbewaa Palace, to brief him on the plans for a pilot implementation of the Cylinder Recirculation Model and also seek his blessings and support.
Mr Tampuli, who was accompanied by senior executives from the African Oil Marketing Companies (AOMCs) and the LPG marketing Association, namely Kwaku Agyeman Duah and Gabriel Kumi, respectively, as well as senior officials from the NPA, teased out the strategic importance of Yendi to the planned implementation, and how that will impact the connecting towns and communities, once the programme takes off.
According to the overlord of the traditional area, it was important the NPA seeks the permission and blessings of the Ya Na before proceeding to identify the areas that are appropriate for the pilot implementation.
Mr Tampuli talked about the previous meetings with other traditional leaders, the Council of State, the Asantehene and how those meetings have helped in drafting the policy. He was, therefore, hopeful the Ya Na’s support will be of great help to the programme.
For his part, Ya Na Abukari Mahama II said previous gas explosions have caused enormous discomfort to many people, and that cannot be allowed to remain.
He said the loss of life through such explosions can be prevented if a proper mechanism is implemented and, therefore, advised the NPA to continue consulting all stakeholders, including consumers, so the proper and acceptable form of the policy is rolled out.
