GRIDCo staff strike Wednesday over GHS1.2bn debt
Staff of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have issued a notice to begin a sit-down strike from tomorrow, Wednesday, 11 December 2019 over debts which they say are crippling the company.
The move is aimed at getting officialdom address their concerns.
The angry workers say they will also withdraw emergency services outside their normal working hours.
They will also hoist red flags at all GRIDCo offices and also wear red armed bands as part of their action to drive home their demands.
The staff want the GHS250 million the President directed the Finance Minister to be paid to GRIDCo.
The other debts they are demanding are the $32, 576,974.05 owed them by VALCO as at 30 September 2019, the GHS607 million owed by ECG as at 1 March 2019, the GHS177 million owed them by NEDCo as at 30 September 2019 and the GHS94, 204,903.17 which is the PDS debt which the ECG collected during the suspension of PDS.
