Gov't'll not only ensure availability of fuel but its quality – Prempeh

Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh, on Wednesday, 31 March 2022, met the Chamber of Bulk Distributors (CBOD) and International Oil Traders (IOT) at the Conference room of the National Petroleum Authority, the regulator of the downstream petroleum industry.
The meeting was to discuss and address challenges that currently confront the industry.
The minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, told the parties that the government is keen on not only ensuring the availability of fuel but its quality.
He further highlighted that the government is very much interested in protecting consumers across the entire downstream petroleum value chain and ensuring payment of realistic prices by consumers.
“As we strive not to kill competition in the industry, encouraging the making of profits, I want companies to ensure that the right things are done in the supreme interest of our country,” he noted.
The BDCs and IOT assured the Minister of their readiness to collaborate with their regulator in the provision of efficient service to consumers in the wake of global challenges.
