MTN suspends decision to review MoMo cashout fee

MTN Ghana has decided to suspend its plan to review the cashout fee for Mobile Money transactions.
The initial decision involved implementing a 1% charge on transactions up to GH¢2,000, with a flat rate of GH¢20 for transactions above that amount.
The review was originally set to take effect from July 1, 2023.
However, in a recent communication to their customers on June 26, MTN Ghana announced that they have withdrawn the planned fee adjustment.
They stated, "The planned review of the cashout fee for MoMo has been withdrawn. The current cashout fee of 1%, capped at GH¢10, still remains and will be charged to your wallet. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."
The proposed fee adjustment had generated significant attention and raised concerns among MTN Mobile Money users.
