NPA CEO assures protection for compliant petroleum businesses

Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has assured businesses operating within Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector of strong regulatory support, provided they adhere to industry rules and standards.
Speaking at the opening of the second edition of the Downstream Compliance Workshop in Accra, Mr. Tameklo emphasised that under his leadership, compliant companies will be protected to ensure a stable and thriving industry.
However, he cautioned that businesses that flout the regulations will face appropriate sanctions in line with the law.
“We will not hesitate to take firm action against non-compliant entities.
This is essential for sustaining growth and integrity in the sector,” he said.
The three-day workshop, held at the NPA head office, brings together key stakeholders from across the petroleum downstream value chain to strengthen regulatory compliance and enhance industry practices.
Monday’s session featured Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketing Companies (LPGMCs).
Today, Tuesday, May 13, the workshop continues with Bulk Import, Distribution, and Export Companies (BIDECs), as well as representatives from refineries, depots, and other allied facilities.
The event will conclude on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, with discussions focused on the transport sector, rounding off the NPA’s effort to foster collaboration and raise standards across the entire petroleum downstream industry.
