No more MTN scratch cards by July
Starting June 30, 2024, MTN Ghana will phase out its scratch cards introduced in 2020.
After July 1, 2024, customers won't be able to use these cards to recharge their accounts.
In a statement on May 23, 2024, Chief Sales and Distribution Officer Samuel Addo explained that customers can still redeem the value of their scratch cards at any MTN Customer Experience Centre through credit transfer.
This move is part of MTN’s effort to lead digital solutions in Ghana and aligns with the government's digitalisation goals.
Mr Addo noted that phasing out scratch cards helps protect the environment, encourages digital usage, and improves customer service efficiency.
“We're phasing out scratch cards to protect the environment, empower customers to use digital methods, and enhance our customer service,” Mr Addo said.
MTN is encouraging customers to use digital channels like MoMo, Ayoba, and the myMTN app to recharge.
As an incentive, customers will receive a 50% bonus on all recharges done via Mobile Money, supporting a cleaner environment.
