TOR board inspects ongoing projects as refinery advances expansion and rebranding agenda
The Board of Directors of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has undertaken a working visit to inspect ongoing infrastructure projects and assess plans for the construction of a new modern loading gantry as part of efforts to reposition the refinery for improved performance.
The inspection, which took place on June 4, 2026, forms part of TOR’s Reset and Rebranding Agenda aimed at modernising operations, enhancing efficiency, and strengthening the refinery’s role within Ghana’s energy sector.
During the visit, the Board toured several key project sites, including the renovation of office facilities, rehabilitation of fuel storage tanks, improvement of driver welfare infrastructure, and the reconstruction of the refinery’s frontage.
Officials also inspected the proposed site earmarked for a new loading gantry, which is expected to support future expansion plans and improve the efficiency of fuel loading operations once completed.
The new gantry project is intended to streamline distribution processes and enhance TOR’s operational capacity as part of broader efforts to upgrade critical infrastructure within the refinery.
Board members reaffirmed management’s commitment to transforming TOR into a more efficient and competitive institution capable of meeting domestic fuel supply needs and contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s energy security.
The Tema Oil Refinery remains a key strategic asset in the country’s downstream petroleum sector, and officials say ongoing upgrades are essential to ensuring its long-term sustainability and relevance in a changing energy landscape.
The Board emphasized that continued investment in infrastructure and operational systems will be critical to positioning TOR as a modern refinery capable of supporting Ghana’s industrial and economic transformation agenda.
