2026 Budget: Gov't announces ¢20 million Creative Arts Fund
Government has revealed a Creative Arts Fund in the 2026 budget, presented by the Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.
The minister told Parliament, Thursday, November 13, 2025, that the fund will receive GH¢20 million as startup capital.
“We will also establish the Creative Arts Fund for the arts, music, fashion, food and other creative sectors,” he explained.
Dr Forson noted this was a move by government to strategically transform culture and entertainment into job-creation avenues, spurring on growth.
A dedicated pool of public capital could go a long way to empowering creatives who often walk the arduous path of prospecting, producing, and promoting their creations alone with little to no financial backing.
If government would commit such a significant amount to such a fund, perhaps it is a sign the unstructured local creative industry would soon see a long overdue change.
What remains now is action; the announcement of the fund's guidelines, its controllers, its operationalisation, and the revelation of its inaugural beneficiaries.
