Lawyer for controversial Ghanaian evangelist and former traditional priestess, Nana Agradaa, known privately as Patricia Asiedua, has stated that her conviction and time in prison do not define who she is or diminish her purpose in life.

Speaking after her sentence was reduced from 15 years to 12 calendar months, her counsel, Richard Asare Baffour, emphasised that imprisonment is not unique to his client and should not be seen as a permanent stain on her reputation.

According to him, many prominent individuals in Ghana and across the world have experienced jail terms at some point in their lives, but later rebuilt their lives and continued to make meaningful contributions to society.

“She’s not the first person to be jailed,” he said.

“There are many well-known personalities, both in Ghana and outside the country, who have served time in prison.

Even in the Bible, there are examples of people who were imprisoned, yet their calling and purpose remained intact.”

He stressed that prison is a life lesson rather than the end of a person’s journey, urging the public to focus on growth and self-improvement.

“The lesson we should draw from this is what is most important,” Baffour added.

“Today it is Mama Pat, tomorrow it could be anyone else. If you do not discipline yourself, strengthen your mind, and constantly renew your thinking, you could also find yourself in a similar situation.

Prison doors are not permanently closed to anyone.”

The lawyer maintained that Agradaa remains committed to rebuilding her life and continuing her spiritual work despite the legal setback.
