Bullet reveals financial burden behind Ebony's replacement with Wendy Shay
RuffTown Records boss Ricky Nana Agyemang has opened up about the difficult financial journey behind the rise of the late dancehall star Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, popularly known as Ebony, revealing that he is still settling debts he incurred while promoting her career.
Speaking during an interview on United Television, Bullet explained that the early stages of Ebony’s career were far from the glamorous image many people saw after she became famous.
According to him, the team struggled financially at the beginning because there were few earnings from streaming platforms and performances at the time.
“When Ebony was alive, we were not really making money from streaming, and the shows we performed at did not pay much either,” he disclosed.
Bullet also addressed past rumours suggesting he had disagreements with Ebony’s father over properties allegedly left behind by the singer.
He dismissed those claims, saying the public often assumes artists become wealthy immediately after gaining fame.
“People even claimed I was fighting with Ebony’s father over her properties.
But which artist in Ghana is able to acquire properties within just two years?” he questioned.
The music executive further revealed that he made significant personal sacrifices to push Ebony’s brand before she became widely recognised.
He said he borrowed money from several sources to finance promotions, studio work, and other aspects of her career.
“I invested heavily in her journey before the fame came. I even took loans from people to promote her music, and many don’t know that I’m still paying some of those debts,” he said
