Burna Boy associate confirms Grammy-wining singer is now Muslim
Rahman Jago, a socialite who is an associate of Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy, has confirmed that the artist has converted to Islam.
Burna Boy, who was raised in a Christian household, sparked speculation about his faith after revealing in a recent podcast that he had embraced Islam “at some point” in his search for truth.
Jago shared a video on X showing Burna Boy praising Allah alongside other men, captioned “Allahu Akbar (Praise be to God)”
The Big 7 singer was seen declaring other popular Islamic phrases, too: “Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God)” and “Masha Allah (God willed it)”. Watch the video here.
In the comments some people shared divergent views. Some welcomed the revelation and Burna Boy's decision, while others opined he had been pressured by his peers to convert. There were X users who also wondered why the video appearing during the fasting period of Ramadan showed what looked like cannibis, arguing the consumption was inconsistent with the holy period's regulations.
Meanwhile, former media aide to Nigerian ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, reposted the video, noting that the singer “seems so happy” and praying that Allah eases his journey with Islam.
When a fan asked Ahmad in the comments if Burna Boy had truly converted, he replied that some of the singer’s close associates confirmed it, though Burna Boy himself has not publicly addressed the report.
Quoting the same fan, Jago stated on X, “He converted. He is now a Muslim.”
