Award-winning gospel musician, Diana Hamilton, has, as a matter of urgency, called for the need to iron out how musicians can generate income from their creative works in Ghana.

She said that though the COVID-19 pandemic has stalled a lot of shows and engagements in the industry, she was gaining some monetary benefits because of her membership with international companies.

She said via Zoom on Sunday that: “I have been privileged enough to have been able to register my works with foreign registering bodies that monitor our works for us. So, even though we are not getting things out of Ghana, they are trickling in from different sides.”

The ‘Mo Ne Yo’ singer added that with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was the need for the appropriate quarters to come up with ways to ensure that artistes generate and enjoy income from their works.

“I think this is what the bodies in Ghana need to look into how we will be able to generate income from our works,” she told Accra-based Joy FM.

According to her, even though all her live concerts had been either cancelled or rescheduled, she said that the team was still trying to make good use of their time.  

Diana Hamilton recently made it to the 4th spot of Billboard’s top Five Most Watched Artistes on YouTube.

She has also won several awards locally and internationally.
