Cubans love Stonebwoy, King Promise – Medical student, singer KJ.
Medical student and musician Emmanuel Dwumfour-Poku, alias KJ., has mentioned the Ghanaian musicians who are prominent in Cuba, per his experience.
KJ. has been on the famous Cuban island since 2019, staying in the capital, Havana.
He spoke to Prince Benjamin (PB) on Accra 100.5 FM’s Entertainment Capital.
“Cubans really know and love Stonebwoy,” he said without hesitation.
“I think they know Kuami Eugene, also, by associate with [Nigerian] CKay because of Love Nwantiti.”
KJ. promptly added: “There is also King Promise. They just love him – Terminator. I think he’s the most famous [Ghanaian artiste] here.”
The singer-songwriter said he hardly listened to Cuban radio.
However, he noted, “where I hear the music is… Sometimes, you take a taxi and the driver wants you to feel at home or show you that his music catalogue is deep. He’ll just play something random and then you’d hear a couple of African songs here and there. The ones that have stood out so far are Stonebwoy and King Promise”.
According to KJ., apart from taxis, Ghanaian songs can be heard “in pubs, also, in certain areas, and sometimes even at the gym”.
“I frequent the gym a lot. Even at the gym, you hear a lot of Terminator over there,” he emphasised.
