Disney fans want Danny DeVito to return as Phil for Hercules live-action remake

With the news that the next Disney live action remake could be Hercules, fans have suggested that Danny DeVito should return to the role of Philocetes, aka Phil.
The actor notably voiced the half-human, half-goat character in Disney’s original animated version of the film from 1997 – and many have since taken to social media to argue that he should play the same role for the live action rendition.
Fans in particular hold very strong opinions over this, as they shared to Twitter: “I literally do not care who gets cast in the Hercules remake EXCEPT for Phil. The role of Phil WILL go to Danny Devito or I will riot SO HELP ME GOD!!!!!!!”
Another agreed: “The *ONLY* Phil (from Disney’s Hercules) must be, and I cannot stress this enough, @DannyDeVito.”
“If they don’t keep Danny Devito as Phil in the live action Hercules, really just don’t even make it,” another fan suggested.
It was reported yesterday that Disney was about to “put the glad in gladiator” for a new adaptation of the classic Greek mythology tale, with Variety confirming that Avengers filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo will be producing, with Dave Callaham working on the script. No director is set in stone yet, but many names have been thrown around, including Jon Favreau.
It’s also been made clear that the film is set to feature the original songs from the animation – and many fans on social media are delighted by this news. As well as Danny, many fans of Ariana Grande also want to see her cast in the upcoming flick as Megara – the love interest of the titular character.
