Efia Odo revisits Christian commitment; 'I'm back in Christ'
Efia Odo, born Andrea Owusu, has revealed she has revisited her Christian faith.
She acknowledged being raised in a Christian household as a result of which she "worshipped Jesus all my life".
However, she explained, "at a point," wanting to "find God on my own," she "ran away from the church".
The social media star admitted this period, despite how it looked in public, was tough for her as she "felt empty" having "stopped worshipping Christ".
She boldly announced her U-turn, saying: "Now I'm back in Christ and no one can tell me otherwise."
"If you think I am brainwashed then let me be, I don't need to be saved," the 31-year-old doubled down.
The TV personality and rapper was responding to an X user who was astonished at her new posture, saying they thought she shared their belief that Christianity was a tool of colonial brainwashing and thus was an avowed atheist.
When another X user posted a picture of her in a provocative black sheer dress – what she famously wore to Kwesi Arthur's 2022 Son of Jacob album launch – Efia Odo responded with a picture of her in a green opaque dress typical of pious women for Sunday church service. When she first posted the latter picture, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, she captioned it, "God's favourite."
On June 23, Efia, in Christian fervour, rebuked the ongoing Kiki Challenge which has seen women portraying their piety in one scene and, in another, showing off how raunchy they can be in the bedroom. The challenged was inspired by lyrics from a Leftizzle & Fuse ODG song which says: "Oh Kiki, you're a good girl, you go [to] church weekly but in the bed you're freaky..."
Calling the abovementioned a "disgusting challenge," Efia Odo bemoaned the wanton display of a lack of godly fear and respect in the quest for social media popularity.
