Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak has brought her extended Guinness World Record (GWR) cooking marathon to an end.

Simply known as Chef Faila, and on social media as Jah Bless Faila, she originally set out to cook for five days since the first day of 2024.

Her aim was to cook for at least 120 hours to beat Irish chef Alan Fisher's 119-hour GWR record from November 2023 - Fisher had earlier beaten Nigerian Hilda Baci's 93-hour record.

By January 5, chef Faila had impressively crossed Fisher's record mark.

Showing no signs of fatigue, she extended the challenge by 5 more days.

Wrapped in a Ghana flag, today, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, chef Faila brought her cook-a-thon to a moving end. For more than 227 hours, she cooked assorted meals including jollof, waakye, tuo zaafi, spring rolls, etc.

According to her, she desired to make it "difficult" for anyone to beat her anticipated GWR record.

What is next is her team presenting the evidence of her attempt to the Guinness World Record office in London, UK, for evaluation and an eventual verdict.

Chef Faila considered her cook-a-thon a "national assignment" to glorify her West African country, Ghana.

The action happened at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, Northen Region. Not only did the live audience enjoy Faila's meals but the vulnerable on the streets of Tamale had a generous treat also.

In 227 hours, chef Faila cooked 156 meals, served 2864 plates, with 450 plates going out to orphanages, the homeless and less privileged.
