From childhood dreams to gospel success: Ceccy Twum opens up on her journey
During a heartfelt phone interview on No1FM’s No1 Gospel Showbizz, hosted by Taller Dee, musician Ceccy Twum spoke about her career path and the challenges she has overcome.
Ceccy revealed that as a child, she dreamed of becoming either an air hostess or a news caster, but today she has found her calling as a musician.
She explained, “When you’re young, dreams often change.
Sometimes God has different plans for you.
We may plan how life should go, but God often has bigger and better plans than we imagine.
At a young age, it’s important to have dreams so you can work toward them.
For me, God didn’t want me to become a news caster or an air hostess; he brought me here as a musician.”
When asked if she thinks the world has been fair to her, Ceccy said, “Life has its challenges.
There’s a saying that life isn’t fair, but through it all, God has been faithful.
Sometimes what you want to achieve may divert, but God’s faithfulness remains.”
On overcoming challenges, she shared, “When I’m down, I sing. If I’m dreaming or aiming for something, I may cry, but what motivates me is music.
I may not pray hard in those moments, but through worship, I regain faith and strength.
I remind myself that God, who has brought me this far, will not leave me here.”
Ceccy also revealed her approach to music, saying she plays worship songs from other artists rather than her own.
“I know my strengths, so I mostly listen to songs by artists ahead of me. It inspires and motivates me because when you see where they are, you realise that with effort, you can also get there.
Sometimes, I also listen to upcoming young gospel artists; they inspire me, too.”
