George Clifford wins best entertainment journalist award
Daily Guide's entertainment editor, George Clifford Owusu, has been honoured with the Best Entertainment Journalist/Blogger Award at the Musicians’ Organisation Global (MUSIGLO) event held last Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Prestige Suite Hotel, Osu in Accra.
The Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Simone Giger, as well as representatives from the creative arts sector, musicians, and choral groups, attended the maiden "Global Music and Creative Entrepreneurship Awards" (MUSIGLO GMCE Awards 2024) ceremony.
The awards ceremony, according to MUSIGLO President Mrs. Deborah Freeman Danquah, is intended to honour artists and creative entrepreneurs by recognising their abilities, diligence, and inventiveness.
She said that in order to honour music stakeholders for their dedication and exceptional inventiveness, the MUSIGLO GMCE Awards 2024 will be presented every year.
MUSIGLO, a global organisation that supports musicians and creative entrepreneurs, has made great progress in promoting their welfare and socioeconomic rights.
With chapters in the USA, Canada, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, and other countries, MUSIGLO has grown to be a major force in fostering creativity and developing talent globally.
The award is a tribute to George Clifford Owusu's continuous and persistent efforts over the past 20 years to promote Ghanaian music and arts through his "BEATWAVES" media channels.
This honour was well-earned, as MUSIGLO acknowledged that his services have been crucial to the development of the Ghanaian music business.
Clifford received a plague and a citation that read, “With your 'Beatwaves' media platform, you have successfully and consistently supported Ghanaian music and the arts over the past 20 years.
Your significant contribution to the development of the Ghanaian music business is honoured with this award.”
Although he feels that his inclusion in the awards is the result of his hard work, George Clifford Owusu expressed his sincere appreciation to God, and the DAILY GUIDE management and staff, for the tremendous support since joining the newspaper.
Some of the notable winners at the event included Switzerland Ambassador to Ghana Simone Giger (Impact Achievement Award), Abraham Quarmyne (Lifetime Achievement Award), Nana Aboagye Dacosta (Lifetime Achievement Award), Rev. Mensah Bonsu (Lifetime Achievement Award), Obuoba J.A.Adofo (Lifetime Achievement Award), Methodist Evangel Choir (Best Ghanaian Evangelism Choir), Ghana Adventist Singing Groups Association (GASGA), Best Ghanaian Christian Singing group, Bright Aheto (Best Choral Music Promoter), Rev.
