Ghana's Rocky Dawuni nominated for another Grammy
Ghanaian reggae superstar Rocky Dawuni has earned his third Grammy nomination.
The news was announced today Tuesday, 15 November 2022 via Twitter.
For the 65th Grammy Awards, Rocky Dawuni's song 'Neva Bow Down' has been nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category.
The song features Jamaican artiste Blvk H3ro (pronounced Black Hero).
Rocky describes the visuals for the song as “a picturesque narrative of the rising voice of the youth trying to understand and articulate their need for systemic change and inclusion. It is a thoughtful and beautifully shot visual feast of a hypothetical confrontation of an awakened people and the broken systems that seek to impede them.”
In the Best Global Music Performance category, Rocky Dawuni will be competing with artistes including fellow West African Burna Boy who apart from also being a third-time Grammy nominee, this year was nominated twice.
The artistes with the most nominations for next year's Grammys, in order, are Beyonce (9), Kendrick Lamar (8) and Adele (7) who ties with country star Brandi Carli.
The 2023 Grammy Awards ceremony is slated for Sunday, 5 February.
