Ghana’s “rickety trotro-like” local commercial aircraft “death traps” – Fameye
The aircraft used by local commercial airlines in Ghana are “death traps”, Peter Famiyeh Bozah, known by the stage name Fameye, a Ghanaian rapper, has said.
The rapper revealed that he flew on one of such aircraft to Kumasi for an entertainment show but never enjoyed the journey due to the noisy, shaky and rickety nature of the aircraft.
Fameye has, thus, appealed to the local airline companies to upgrade their aircraft and shun the old rickety ones they are currently using.
The ‘Nothing I Get’ hit singer told Nana Romeo on the mid-morning show on Accra100.5FM on Friday, 8 November 2019 that: “I normally travel to Kumasi and Takoradi by air and the experience I get is terrible. The jets are old and in bad condition, they make noise and shake in the air throughout the journey.”
“Anytime I travel with the domestic airline, I pray throughout the journey; it is very bad so the operators must fix their jets”, he revealed.
“I recently travelled to Kumasi by air and the aircraft was like a rickety trotro; it wasn’t good at all”, he said.
He has called on the Ghanaian authorities to ensure that the nation gets its own national airline as other countries.
“Ghana must get its own airlines. The government and all citizens must ensure that Ghana gets its own airline,” he admonished.
