TV personality and former host of ‘Music Music’ on TV3, Stacy Amoateng, has disclosed that she stopped looking in the mirror when she was battling cervical cancer.

She said her body deformed and deteriorated and, so, was scared to face herself in the mirror.

The host of ‘Restoration’ on TV3 said she stopped brushing her teeth in front of the mirror, adding that her skin colour changed to pure black.

She indicated that her husband, veteran musician ‘Okyeame Kofi’ broke down in tears on one of the days they were visiting the hospital.

The TV personality stated that she was depressed and had to turn off her phones.

She said her sickness was too much for her husband, and, thus, became closer to her uncle who is the CEO of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Daniel Asare.

Speaking on Citi TV, Stacy said: “Honestly, at that time, I never looked at myself in the mirror, I didn’t want to know how I was looking, so, I wasn’t even brushing my teeth in front of the mirror. I had the horror of my life when my husband cried and I decided to look in the mirror, I had become about 20 or 30 years older. I had changed, I became darker. My uncle was my venting zone, it was too much for my husband, we were a young couple trying to enjoy our lives and this sickness came”.

She stated that she fought the disease by telling herself that she won’t die because she has been through worse situations and did not give up.

She indicated that she appreciated music a lot more during her treatment.

The cervical cancer survivor advised women to get tested and in case they are positive, they should start treatment and not be ‘stubborn’ by refusing doctor’s advice.

Stacy said she challenged God in a prayer to heal her during her ordeal.
