Imitate Davido's fervent marketing despite his stardom: Don Jazzy to music makers
Star music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, alias Don Jazzy, has entreated musicians to robustly promote their work with fervour just like Davido is doing for his latest album.
Despite the name he has made for himself over the years and the clout he commands, Don Jazzy argued, the 'Unavailable' hitmaker does not leave marketing to chance thinking patronage of his work will be automatic.
Don Jazzy further admonished music makers saying robust marketing despite one's extensive success does not substract from one's shine or reduce their respect in the music business.
If anything, it is in order because of the hardwork and investment made into creating the work of art.
Jazzy, the founder of the world-famous Mavin record label which boasts of stars like Rema, Ayra Starr and Johnny Drille, said this in a tweet on Monday, April 10, 2023.
"Dear artist[e]s, hope you can see how Davido is marketing his album," he said. "He didn't form [exagerrate his importance, saying:] 'I'm OBO, so everybody will cop [buy] my [thing]."
"Marketing your beautiful project that you worked hard on does not reduce your swag," he concluded.
Friday, March 31, 2023, Davido released his latest album; 'Timeless'.
So far, promoting the 17-track project, he has appeared on US brands such as CNN, The Late Night Show with Stephen Corbert and Hot 97 with Ebro and co.
He divulged to Ebro that he "spent US$300,000 on this [Timeless] album and I've made more already in three days."
April 23 to 26, he will be in Botswana to perform and speak as part of the 2023 Forbes Under 30 Summit Africa.
