Medikal to pay GHS3,600 or get caged for 9 months after guilty plea

The Circuit Court in Accra, today, Monday, 21 February 2022, convicted rapper Medikal for displaying arms and ammunition.
He was convicted to a fine of GHS3,600 or will serve nine months in jail.
Medikal was convicted after changing his plea from not guilty to guilty in open court.
The court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh, stood the case down for sentencing.
Born Samuel Adu Frimpong, the 2021 Hip-hop Artiste of the Year was picked up by personnel from the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service for allegedly brandishing a gun on social media.
He was subsequently denied bail, as the prosecutors were piecing evidence together to charge him for unlawful possession of a firearm.
This was barely 24 hours after an Accra Circuit Court remanded dancehall artiste Shatta Wale in police custody for one week for faking his own kidnapping.
