Mona4Reall sentenced to a year and a day in prison, with possible reduction, after crying for mercy

Mona4Reall’s romance scam trial has been concluded in the United States of America.

Born Mona Faiz Montrage, the Ghanaian pleaded guilty to playing a role in laundering the proceeds of a series of romance scams involving American victims.

She was arrested in the United Kingdom, November 2022, and without resistance was extradited to the United States of America, where she faced a six-count indictment for her role in a series of romance schemes.

Mona pleaded guilty, agreeing to pay over US$2.1 million to her victims in forfeiture and restitution.

She made the shocking revelation the man who fathered her daughter introduced her to the fraud syndicate.

Stressing, “I feel shame as a mother of an 8-year-old daughter,” she additionally prayed the court: “Please have mercy on me.”

Anticipating a potential detention by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, her defence also requested she be allowed to return to her home country after serving her sentence, to which the prosecution led by Assistant US Attorneys Mitzi Steiner and Kevin Maed agreed.

The socialite-turned-singer, everything being constant, received a year and a day’s prison sentence.

US District Judge J. Paul Oetken gave the judgement on Friday, June 28, 2024, allowing her, also, the possibility of “good time” credit, which eventually could bring her sentence to a few days.

While his identity has been elusive, the father of Mona4Reall's daughter was identified in court as Loveman Alison.
