Veteran gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong, leader of Yaw Sarpong and Asomafo music group has hinted at working with some secular artiste on his new album.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Kwesi Asare on The Big Show on 4 July 2020 on Class 91.3 FM, the “Wo How Ne Sen” singer said: “I have an upcoming album which includes Sarkodie, Kofi Kinaata and Stonebwoy”.
He said he is also featuring fellow gospel musicians like Joe Mettle, Kwaku Gyasi, Patience Nyarko and Joyce Blessing.
Currently, Yaw Sarpong noted that he is in the studio with veteran highlife musician Amakye Dede recording a song together.
“The album would have been ready by now but because of coronavirus but everything depends on my management and I obey whatever they will say,” he added.
Yaw Sarpong noted that he does not discriminate but listens to all genre of music saying "You can pick a whole lot from them [secular artistes]. The instruments they use to play their songs is the same instrument used in the gospel industry that is why I listen to everyone’s songs but if there is profanity in the lyrics, then I say 'we were not brought up that way' but the rhythm, I listen.”
