Nana Agradaa set for March 3 release under standard remission rules
Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, commonly known as Nana Agradaa or Mama Pat, is expected to be released from prison on March 3, 2026, after qualifying for Ghana’s standard remission policy, which allows inmates with good conduct to serve two-thirds of their sentence.
Agradaa began her custodial term on July 3, 2025, after being convicted by an Accra Circuit Court on charges including charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence. The case stemmed from her promotion of a so-called money-doubling scheme during services at her church in Weija, where congregants were promised miraculous financial returns that failed to materialise.
She was initially sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour, but on February 5, 2026, the Amasaman High Court upheld the conviction while ruling the punishment excessive. The court reduced the sentence to 12 months and added a 200-penalty-unit fine (about GH¢2,400), backdated to the date of conviction.
Her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, said her release follows normal prison regulations and is not a special privilege, stressing that remission applies uniformly to eligible inmates.
The case has drawn widespread public interest due to Agradaa’s popularity as a controversial social media figure and former traditional priestess-turned-evangelist.
