Nude photo with my son still haunts me; my only regret in life – Akuapem Poloo

“The only regret I have in my life is the picture I took with my son,” actress Akuapem Polo has revealed.
She was on Accra 100.5 FM, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, talking to Nana Romeo, host of Ayekoo Ayekoo.
“Since childhood till I grew up, my only regret is the picture I took with my son. Aside that, I have no regrets,” she stressed.
The memory, she added, “is seriously haunting me”.
“I’m thinking about my son, he’ll grow up, as he is growing now, he’s asking a lot of questions already.
“As a single mother, I need to prepare myself for how I’ll answer him for him to understand the situation of how his nakedness and he standing in front of me as if he’s looking at mommy’s nakedness will sound in his mind. That is my only regret," the social media star bemoaned.
She claimed that currently the photo cannot be found on the web when googled, though it comes to her mind “always”.
When Romeo prayed for Allah’s help for her, she prayed, also: “Allah help my son also to be strong to [handle] it that he wouldn’t haunt me with it.”
In July 2020, to mark her son’s seventh birthday, Akuapem Poloo posted a photo of her squatting in front of her son – they both looked naked. This sparked public outrage, and the Accra High Court sentenced her to three months in prison in April 2021, explaining it was a punitive measure to deter others from doing same or similar.
Poloo had pleaded guilty to three charges: publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence in ways to undermine the privacy and integrity of another person and engaging in domestic violence which can spoil the dignity of another human being.
In December 2021, Akuapem Poloo’s lawyers got her out of the Nsawam prison on bail after she had spent eight days there. When the court reversed the bail, the lawyers successfully secured her a non-custodial sentencing and a GHS12,000 fine.
