Sonnie Badu: Gospel star, pastor okay to enjoy, endorse 'good, clean' secular music

Pastor and Gospel star Sonnie Badu

Sonnie Badu has indicated he finds nothing wrong with enjoying and endorsing any kind of music apart from Christian music, as long as it is "good and clean".

The Gospel star and founder and leader of Rock Hill Church, USA, said this via X, Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

He was responding to an X user, @PrinceTawiah1, who appeared to be disappointed in him because he "publicly endorses secular music in a heart beat".

The Baba hitmaker has been very vocal about his support for rap star Black Sherif and his admiration for Nigerians Davido and Burna Boy.

In a 2023 interview on Accra-based UTV's United Showbiz programme, he openly declared: "I am inspired by Davido and Burna Boy. I have seen the kind of music they do, so I like to learn what they are doing so I can do it in the gospel space. I can't say I don't listen to secular music, that would be a lie , I do hear it and I enjoy it. I do listen to secular music to see what I can do better."
