Ace highlife musician, Rex Omar, has called on the board and organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) not to lift the ban imposed on dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale.

Rex Omar said it is needless for the board of Charterhouse to lift the ban on the two, describing as wrong, the spectacle put up by the duo during the 20-year-anniversary of the VGMAs in 2019.

The "Abiba" hitmaker charged Charterhouse to stand by its principles, fearing that history will repeat itself if Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are not penalised.

Speaking on Accra-based 3FM, the Chairman of the Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO) said: “What happened during the awards ceremony is wrong. It was wrong then, and it is wrong now, and if we want it to continue, then the ban should be lifted. I believe that in this world, principles are very important and when you make a decision you have to understand the reason you are making that decision and when you make that decision you have to stand by it.”

Charterhouse, last year, banned and stripped the two of all their awards after they distracted the ceremony.

Stonebwoy, who was on stage to receive an award, pulled a gun after he realised that his archrival Shatta Wale had walked on stage with his fans.
