Why are you sleeping on duty? – Prince David Osei to Akufo-Addo

Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei in a lamentation concerning the current harsh economic environment in Ghana has asserted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is “sleeping on Ghanaians.”
Prince, who openly campaigned for Akufo-Addo to come to power, registered his profound displeasure on Instagram on Monday, 10 October 2022.
He posted a picture of a news publication with the headline: “World Bank: Ghana ranks 1st with highest food price increases of 122% in Sub-Saharan Africa,” and then added text bitterly bemoaning Ghana’s current economic situation.
The movie star also expressed regret for supporting Mr Akufo-Addo’s campaign for power in 2016.
“Mr President! With all due respect, Mr President, why are you sleeping on Ghanaians?” Prince charged.
“This is not acceptable Mr President. We deserve better. We know there are global crisis and hardship. Yes, we know! But looks like you and your ministers are determined to inflict untoward hardship to the citizenry,” the actor reprimanded.
“I decided to give you and your government the benefit of the doubt, I reckon I was wrong!” Mr David Osei expressed regret for his 2016 campaign effort in support of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Akufo-Addo.
“The Youth of this nation are not smiling,” the 38-year-old movie director noted and referenced the recent heavy rains: “It pours, but we are still sweating.”
In conclusion, Prince David Osei threatened a demonstration by the youth, which he and others would convene, "if things don't change by December," asked the President to sack some government appointees for the sake of his legacy and prayed for the prosperity of Ghana.
