The Women in Gospel Music (WIGM) has held its annual “Gratitude 2025” celebration under the inspiring theme, “Our God Reigns.

” The event brought together leading female gospel musicians, ministers, and Christian leaders from across Ghana to celebrate faith, unity, and service.

In a message delivered at the event, Ama Pratt, Spokesperson for Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku- Agyemang commended the women for their unwavering dedication to the ministry, describing the occasion as a time to reflect on the power of gratitude and God’s reign over the nation.
“Gratitude is not just a feeling but a lifestyle — an attitude that elevates us to a higher altitude,” she noted.

“As we proclaim that ‘Our God Reigns,’ we affirm that God reigns in the affairs of our beloved country, Ghana.”

She emphasised the vital role women play in nation-building, calling them “the backbone of every society,” and urged women to make gratitude a daily practice.

“No institution—be it a school, church, or organisation—can thrive without the unwavering contribution of women,” she said.

The annual “Gratitude” programme, she added, serves as a reminder to be thankful for life’s simple yet vital blessings such as breath, shelter, water, and clothing, and to extend that same gratitude toward national leaders who serve with dedication and sacrifice.

Commending the leadership of WIGM, she paid glowing tribute to Rev. Dr. Mary Ghansah, President Abena Ruthy, and the executive team for their vision in uniting Ghana’s gospel ministers under one umbrella.
“Your continued service to the body of Christ and the nation is deeply appreciated,” she said.

She also lauded WIGM’s community outreach initiative to provide sanitary towels to young girls, describing it as “a vital national cause.”
Citing research that shows one in four girls in rural northern Ghana misses school during menstruation, she explained that the lack of access to sanitary pads and inadequate school sanitation facilities continues to hinder girls’ education and confidence.

“This initiative aligns perfectly with ongoing efforts under the leadership of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, who continues to champion the empowerment and well-being of women and girls across Ghana,” she added, noting that her own appointment reflected the President’s commitment to gender empowerment.

She concluded by encouraging members of Women in Gospel Music to remain united in faith and service:
“I urge every member to give your very best to God, stay focused, and serve humanity with love and humility. May Gratitude 2025 inspire us all to live lives of gratitude and service.”

The event ended with prayers, worship, and renewed commitment to promoting unity, empowerment, and compassion within the gospel music community.
