In a surprise move, the king of Akyem Kotoku state, His Majesty Oseadeeyo Dr. Frimpong Manso IV , has shortened the Adamu Observation period to allow citizens to fully participate in the Christmas festivities.

The traditional observance, which prohibits noise-making, drumming, and dancing, was originally scheduled to last for two weeks, from December 16 to December 31.

However, in a public announcement issued on December 14 2025, the king's secretary, Kwarko Aning, revealed that the restriction period has been adjusted to end on December 23 at sunset, rather than December 31.

The decision was made to enable citizens to celebrate Christmas without hindrance.

The original two-week restriction was graciously adjusted to one week by the king, demonstrating his consideration for the well-being and joy of his people.

The king's wishes for a joyful and peaceful Christmas were extended to all Kotoku citizens and well-wishers.

This development is expected to bring relief to many in the Akyem Kotoku, who can now look forward to celebrating Christmas with their loved ones without the restrictions imposed by the Adamu Observation period
