GWR: Visual art star Padiki becomes Largest Leaf-print Painting title holder
Ghanaian visual artist Sharon Dede Padi, fondly known as Padiki, has etched her name into history, becoming the first Ghanaian to claim a Guinness World Records (GWR) title for creating the largest leaf-print painting.
Completed in Accra on July 11, 2025, the monumental work stretches across an impressive 54.33 square metres (584.8 square feet). Crafted entirely from leaf prints, the piece blossoms into a striking rendition of the Ghanaian flag — a vivid homage to national pride, cultural identity, and creative ingenuity rooted in nature.
Watch her successful attempt here.
This historic feat builds on Padiki’s earlier display of artistic endurance and ambition. In March 2024, she undertook a gruelling 168-hour painting marathon, aiming to break the record for the longest continuous painting session by an individual. Though that attempt fell short of the record, it captured widespread attention at home and abroad, spotlighting her resilience and fearless pursuit of artistic milestones.
As the founder and CEO of Padiki Art Gallery, she has consistently used her platform to champion African art, preserve cultural heritage, and amplify women’s empowerment through creative expression.

With this latest achievement, Padiki takes her place among a growing list of Ghanaians making their mark on the global stage, including Roselyn Akosua Mantey, who set the record for the longest makeup application in April 2025, and Ace-Liam Nana Sam Ankrah, who stunned the world as the youngest artist ever at just one year and 152 days old.
