Ghana’s culture promoted as nation’s strongest currency in the US
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Madam. Abla Dzifa Gomashie has emphasised that Ghana’s culture is the country’s most valuable currency, highlighting the role of tourism in promoting both traditional and contemporary Ghanaian heritage.
Speaking at a community dialogue in the United States on Ghana’s future, diaspora engagement, and opportunities surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Minister stressed that tourism in Ghana extends far beyond forts and castles.
She noted that the government has made litigation-free land available for investors and opened channels through the US–Ghana Chamber of Commerce to encourage investment in culture, creativity, and experience-driven tourism.
Minister Gomashie expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for restructuring the Ministry, reinforcing her belief that promoting tourism is synonymous with promoting Ghanaian culture.
She highlighted the importance of showcasing the country’s diverse cultural expressions—from traditional heritage dances to modern Gen Z artistic forms—as a way to build a vibrant and inclusive national brand for the global stage.
The dialogue in the US served as a platform to engage the Ghanaian diaspora, encourage investment in the creative and tourism sectors, and position Ghana as a premier destination for culture-driven experiences ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
