Nat’l House of Chiefs elects new leaders today

The National House of Chiefs is electing a new President and Vice-President today, Thursday, 12 November 2020, in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to run the affairs of the house for the next four years.
Two candidates are contesting for both the presidential and the vice-presidential slots, respectively.
The incumbent President of the House, 63-year-old Togbe Afede XIV, who is the Agbobomefia of the Asogli State, is running for re-election.
He is being contested by the 70-year-old Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II.
The vice-presidential slot is also being contested by the incumbent Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII Abeadzehen.
The Paramount Chief of Lawra Traditional Area, Naa Puowele Karbo III, is contesting him.
