Wa comes alive as 2025 Dumba festival is celebrated with splendour
The 2025 edition of the annual Dumba Festival in Wa was marked with rich cultural displays, traditional rites, and a strong sense of community, drawing together chiefs, elders, dignitaries, and citizens from across the region.
Among the high-profile attendees was the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment and Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Rashid Pelpuo, who described the occasion as a moment of pride and belonging.
“As a proud son of the land, I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging as I joined my people to uphold the traditions that define who we are as Wala,” the Minister said, reflecting on the day’s celebrations.
He led a government delegation and was joined by several dignitaries, including the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban S. K. Bagbin, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the Mayor of Wa, regional and constituency executives of the NDC, as well as a number of Members of Parliament.
Festival grounds were filled with colour, music, and dance as residents and visitors participated in the centuries-old tradition, which not only preserves Wala heritage but also fosters unity and togetherness among the people.
The Dumba Festival, celebrated annually by the chiefs and people of Wa, continues to serve as a unifying cultural platform that brings together political, traditional, and community leaders in reaffirming identity and promoting peace.
