Angry teen unhappy with brand of luxury birthday car dumps it in the river
The name and age of the angry teen who could not come to terms with receiving the wrong brand of luxury car are not known, but several Indian sources have reported that he hails from the Yamuna Nagar in Haryana and is the son of a local landlord.
Luxury cars like Jaguar, Audi, BMW or Mercedes-Benz have become a common sight in Haryana, with many landowners buying them with money received from the government in exchange for land to be used for various infrastructure projects. Such cars are often abandoned shortly after being acquired, due to high maintenance cost; but in this case, the owner simply did not like the brand.
It sounds hard to believe, but upon seeing that he received a white BMW sedan – either 3 series or 5 series – instead of the coveted Jaguar, the unnamed youth reportedly pushed the new car into a local river to show his anger. Due to heavy rainfall, the river was particularly swollen when the incident took place, and the car was swept away quite a distance before getting stuck on a bank of tall grass.
A video allegedly showing the angry young man and some of his friends trying to recover the white BMW using an inflatable raft has been doing the rounds on social media for the last couple of days. CarToq reports that the disgruntled youth has already been visited by the police for his now-viral stunt, but it’s not clear whether any charges have been brought against him.
According to the BBC, BMW cars sell for around 3.5m rupees ($49,000), while Jaguars cost around 4 – 5 million rupees ($56,000 – $70,000), which would explain the youth’s extreme gesture.
