MTN’s Eugenia Lamptey bags master’s in organisational leadership & governance; says: ‘I feel ready for bigger roles, responsibilities’

Supply Chain practitioner Mrs Eugenia Lamptey has been with MTN for almost two decades

One of MTN Ghana’s procurement and sourcing icons, Mrs Eugenia Lamptey, has climbed the academic ladder a notch higher after graduating with a Master of Arts Degree in organisational leadership and governance from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS).

Mrs Lamptey, who has been with MTN Ghana since August 2005, graduated with her cohort recently.

The mother-of-three, over the years, has managed to successfully juggle her highly demanding career in the corporate space with her family and academic duties.

Since December 2016 till date, the results-oriented, ambitious, and self-motivated Supply Chain practitioner, who possesses strong analytical, interpersonal and governance skills, has been the Sourcing Manager at MTN Ghana.

She served as Acting Senior Manager, Sourcing, at MTN Ghana from June 2019 to December 2019.

While in that role, Mrs Lamptey implemented and delivered supply strategies including supply base rationalisation for local procurement categories.

From December 2016 to June 2017, she was the Sourcing Manager and Acting General Services Senior Manager, where she managed process standardisation and transformation initiatives among others.

An alumnus of Mfantsiman Girls’ School, Mr Lamptey also served as Manager, Analysis and Reporting, at MTN Ghana between February 2011 and November 2016 where she ensured, among a raft of other duties, the timely adherence to supply and customer-related contracts and agreements.

From August 2005 when she joined MTN Ghana, Mrs Lamptey served as a Procurement Coordinator until January 2011.

In her academic journey, Mrs Lamptey read courses at the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (UK Background MCIPS) between November 2015 and December 2022.

She enrolled in the University of Ghana Business School, Legon, Accra, from April 2021 to July 2022.

From May 2010 to June 2014, she enrolled at the Central University College, Accra, and read BSc. Administration (Human Resource Option) where she graduated with second class honours (upper).

She read Agricultural Science at Mfantsiman Girls’ School from January 1994 to December 1996.

In her 18 years at MTN Ghana, Mrs Lamptey and her team have clocked numerous achievements and won many awards.

They include the induction of the company into the Supply Chain Hall of Fame (GIPS, 2022) and gaining a Certified Investors in People (IiP) Accreditation in 2014.

They also won the following awards:

▪ Excellence in Procurement & Supply Chain: Telecom (GIPS, 2018 - 2022)

▪ Supplier Development Company of the Year (GIPS, 2018 - 2022)

▪ Procurement & Supply Chain: Team of The Year: Gold (GIPS, 2018 - 2022)

▪ Most Innovative Use of Technology (GIPS, 2018 - 2022)

▪ Most Innovative Use of Technology, 2016 CIPS Pan Africa and SOEPF AAPP Award

Speaking to the media after her graduation, Mrs Lamptey noted that it took determination and hard work on her part, to go through the programme successfully without compromising her ever-increasing responsibilities both at work and home.

Asked how she felt after getting her master’s degree, Mrs Lamptey said: “It’s satisfying”, adding: “It makes me feel ready and better-armed to take on even bigger roles with bigger responsibilities in the career space”.
