Akufo-Addo directs CID to probe Frimpong Boateng’s Jubilee House galamsey den claims

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the police to investigate the allegations by Prof Frimpong Boateng regarding the involvement of some government officials in illegal mining.
Following the directives by the president, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has commenced a probe into the matter.
The former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovations, in an interview with state broadcaster GBC, alleged that staff at the presidency as well as in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), are neck-deep in illegal mining across the country.
He further alleged that these individuals played a role in ensuring he was ousted from office as a minister since he became a thorn in their flesh.
According to him, as the Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, he was disliked because he was against their illicit activities.
