The Ghana Armed Forces has officially conferred posthumous promotions on the officers and men who lost their lives in the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom, in line with a directive by President John Dramani Mahama during the state funeral held last week.
At a brief ceremony on Tuesday, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt. Gen. William Agyapong, presented the new ranks to the bereaved families on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The promotions were described as a recognition of the gallantry and dedicated service of the fallen crew.
In a statement, the Deputy Minister of Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi expressed profound gratitude to President Mahama for honouring the memory of the soldiers and reaffirmed his commitment to support the families left behind.
The bereaved families also conveyed their appreciation for the gesture, noting that it brings dignity and comfort in their moment of loss
