The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Abronye DC, has been allowed to continue enjoying his bail after an Accra Circuit Court was satisfied that he had fulfilled all the conditions attached to it.

The court's decision comes days after the outspoken politician, whose official name is Kwame Baffoe, was taken into custody for failing to comply with an earlier directive requiring him to deposit his passport with the court.

During proceedings on Monday, June 8, lawyers for Abronye DC informed the court that their client had now complied with all the requirements, including surrendering his travel documents as ordered.

The court subsequently sought confirmation from its registrar, who verified that the passports had indeed been submitted on Friday, June 5.

Following the confirmation, the court reinstated the original bail terms and ordered that the NPP regional chairman be released under the same conditions.

However, the court cautioned him to strictly adhere to the terms of his bail, warning that any future breach could result in its cancellation.

The ruling follows a review of his compliance with the court's directives after concerns were raised over his failure to initially meet one of the conditions attached to his release.

Abronye DC is currently standing trial on a charge of alleged false publication brought against him by the State.

He was granted bail by the High Court last month after initially being remanded following his first appearance before the court.

As part of the bail package, he was required to surrender his passport pending the determination of the case.

With the court now satisfied that all outstanding conditions have been met, proceedings in the matter are expected to continue under the reinstated bail arrangement.
