The Omanhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyeman Badu II, has called on the government to expedite work on the Berekum–Sampa Road, emphasising its importance as a major international route that connects Ghana to neighbouring Côte d’Ivoire.

Speaking at the 2025 Suma Yam Festival held at Suma Ahenkro in the Bono Region, the Dormaa Omanhene noted that the ongoing works on the road should be completed without delay, especially now that the contractor is on site.

He said the project, along with the completion of the Sunyani township roads, would greatly improve transportation and enhance economic activity in the region.

“This is an international road, and if the government is able to complete it together with the Sunyani town roads, the people of the Bono Region will be very grateful,” he stated.

Osagyefo Dr. Agyeman Badu also commended the government for maintaining macroeconomic stability and expressed satisfaction with the recent strengthening of the cedi against the dollar, describing it as a positive sign for the nation’s economy.

He further urged the government to take a clear and firm stance on issues relating to LGBT activities, stressing the need to safeguard Ghana’s cultural values and moral integrity.

Meanwhile, the Omanhene of the Suma Traditional Area, Odeneho Dr. Afram Brempong III, explained that the Suma Yam Festival aims to mobilise funds for the construction of a University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) campus at Suma Ahenkro.

According to him, investing in education remains the most enduring legacy he can leave for his people.

“The best legacy I can leave for the Suma Traditional Area is quality education.

I therefore call on all citizens and development partners to support this vision,” he said.

Odeneho Dr. Afram Brempong also touched on the state of the economy and reiterated traditional leaders’ concerns over the LGBT issue, urging unity and collaboration for the nation’s moral and economic advancement.
